The zel is a twisted wooden stick that is mounted inside the crutch, to shape and hold it. The wood can be beech or wenge. The tendency is to manufacture them in carbon or titanium to achieve greater lightness and strength. The stael is mounted on the crutch by a cast that holds the fabric and with a metal tip on the opposite side. The normal size of a wearinger is 62 cm.
